TM and TB category rights, what do they mean?
New columns have appeared in the driver's licenses of the new model, which fit the categories of vehicles that the license holder can drive. Based on the requirements of the Federal Law, new rules and categories were introduced to ensure maximum safety on the roads, to entrust the driving of certain vehicles to competent drivers. Among the new graphs, two categories have appeared – Tb and Tm, meaning the right to drive trolleybuses and trams.

For more than one year, a new model of a driver's license has been operating on the territory of Russia. The document was brought into compliance with international standards, which made it possible to strictly regulate its effect depending on the existing types of vehicles. Previously, the rights were of a general nature, so the legislation divided vehicles only into passenger, cargo and passenger (bus).
One of the consequences of this innovation was the appearance of such categories as TM and TB in the driver's license. These include passenger electromechanical vehicles intended for use in the public transport system. They did not stand out in the old-style rights, but drivers of public transport were given a special clarifying note in the document.
The rights of the TM group are issued to the driver of a gauge electric vehicle intended for movement in a centralized public transport system. These are all kinds of varieties of the so-called tram moving along a given route. The TB category makes it possible to operate a non-rail mechanical transport by electric traction (trolleybus). They are used mainly for transporting passengers inside the city, but sometimes they are also used in the intercity transport system (if the distance between individual settlements does not exceed several tens of kilometers).
